Laying of the foundation stone at Westfalen hard coal fired power plant

Kraftanlagen München (KAM) is part of the modernization of the Westfalen hard coal fired power plant.

In the presence of distinguished guests from the worlds of politics, business and society, RWE Power AG laid the foundation stone for the construction of the two new units, D and E, of the Westfalen hard coal fired power plant in Hamm on August 29, 2008.

Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel expressed her desire to support the modernization of coal fired power plants during her speech on this occasion.

When construction of the two new power plant units is complete, the plant in Hamm will become highly efficient. Use of state-of-the-art technology will permit the plant, which represents an investment of 2 billion Euro, to achieve an efficiency of 46 %. In comparison to older plants, CO2 emissions will be reduced by around 2.5 million tons per year while still producing the same amount of electricity. The implemented technology will therefore make a major contribution to environmental protection.

Kraftanlagen München is also playing its part in making this innovative project a success by building the HP piping systems for the two new coal fired power plant units.

The Kraftanlagen München group undertakes the engineering, production and installation of these systems based on decades of experience, leading technologies and highly committed employees.
