Large-scale project power plant Neurath completed

The two blocks F and G are situated in Grevenbroich-Neurath in the coal-mining area of Garzweiler. With 173 metres each the cooling towers of the most modern power plant with optimized systems engineering are higher than the Cologne Cathedral. In October 2006 RWE Power AG awarded a consortium comprised of the Essener Hochdruck-Rohrleitungsbau GmbH (now BHR) and Kraftanlagen München GmbH with the contract for the supply of the complete HP piping systems. The scope of work included construction, planning, engineering, supply, fabrication, installation, quality management, commissioning, trial operation and documentation.

About 3,500 tons of piping systems constructed for highest pressure and temperature requirements were used for this large-scale project. KAM handed over Block G including the machine and boiler house at the beginning of October 2010 to RWE and about half a year later block F was also handed over for cold commissioning.

After completion of functional tests both blocks are expected to be on the electrical grid soon.
